Medinsight

Medinsight Classic is an approved solution for use in research projects, quality registries and long term research registries with a broad consent. The solution offers tailor-made IT solutions for collecting structured clinical data. Data is stored securely in a SQL database. Forms and CRFs, logic, process flow and reports are produced at the customer's request.

Setting up a Medinsight solution involves a cost, but this cost also includes detailed advice, follow-up and assistance in developing a registry. Costs vary depending on the size and complexity of the registry, but an average registry will have a price indication of around NOK 100,000 (lump sum). There are no annual licensing costs after the registry has been established.

Medinsight is recommended for larger projects and quality registries that have special needs, and where it is important to have flexible search and reporting options as well as opportunities for integration with other systems. Medinsight is also recommended for larger registries that need to convert data from an "unapproved" IT solution to an "approved" solution as a result of GDPR. Medinsight is not web-based, and access to the solution is provided through the hospital network. The Biobank and Registry Support Department operates Medinsight and can be contacted here.

Medinsight has its own IT solution for registering code lists/link keys, which is OUS' official IT solution for storing code lists and link keys. You can create new code lists in the solution, but it is also possible to import old code lists from Excel, which are then stored securely in the solution. This solution is free to use.

There is also a separate IT solution for registering consents in connection with studies, biobanks or registers. The solution handles scanned paper approvals and provides an overview of the link list and consent status per patient. The "register of consent" is cost based.
