Biostatistics and Epidemiology at OCBE

The Oslo Center for Biostatistics and Epidemiology (OCBE) offers free guidance in the choice of design and methodology for research projects, as well as with the selection of statistical and epidemiological analysis methods. OCBE is a regional research support function, which means that researchers from the entire health region can use the expertise that exists in OCBE.

The center's employees can be active participants in projects, and carry out analysis work and documentation of results. Researchers at OCBE can thus also act as main or secondary supervisors on methodology, for example in doctoral work.

OCBE holds annual courses in clinical research methodology, focusing on principles of knowledge-based medical and health research methodology. Design is taught in relation to various research hypotheses, strategy, internal validity in studies (selection bias, confounding and information bias), hypothesis testing and statistical and epidemiological methods.
